My two-year-old can actually grip the pieces herself thanks to the little pegs, which makes puzzle time way less frustrating for both of us. The pictures underneath match up perfectly, so she's learning to name each pet while she plays.
The wooden pieces are thick enough that my one-year-old can't bend or chew them up, which is a relief. She mostly just likes pulling the cat piece out and putting it back, over and over, for like twenty minutes.
