Bought this for a road trip and my 6-year-old stayed busy for almost two hours straight. The spiral binding means the pages don't flop around, and since the stylus stores right in the book, nothing got lost in the car. Way less mess than markers.

The wooden stylus tucks right into the spiral binding, so nothing gets lost in the diaper bag. My 6-year-old scratched sea turtles and seahorses for a solid hour on the flight, and the colors underneath genuinely surprised her.

My kids fight over this in the car, but the wooden stylus stays tucked in the spiral binding so nothing gets lost between seats. The sea life pages scratch off smoothly and reveal bright colors that keep them busy for a solid half hour.
